Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his sympathy to the families of the Onitsha Anambra State fire victims, an incident he described as preventable.
The fire outbreak was caused by a tanker explosion in Onitsha, Anambra State on Wednesday. It killed at least three people and destroyed properties worth millions of naira, including buildings and shops.
Atiku Abubakar who was the PDP presidential candidate and the major opposition to the ruling party in Nigeria took to his Twitter account on Thursday to say, “We’ve had many preventable fuel tanker tragedies.
“I received with sadness, report of a tanker explosion in Onitsha, Anambra State, which caused massive destruction to lives and properties in Ochanja Market area. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the affected persons.”
