The party’s national chairperson, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state. Oshiomhole’s suspension was caused by his roles in the crisis suffered by the party in the state, APC stated.
The party emphasized that they don’t want a repeat of the Zamfara crisis that caused the loss of APC in the 2019 election. Oshiomhole was reported to have received a vote of no confidence from the party after the allegations made against him. The motion of no-confidence vote was approved by the chairperson of the APC in the 18 local government areas of the state.
The statement by Anselm Ojezua, the party’s chairperson in Edo, and Ikuenobe Anthony, the assistant state secretary, confirmed the action against Oshiomhole.
“Consequent on the development, the state executive committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state”. According to Ojezua and Anthony, Oshiomhole’s suspension was to avoid a repeat of the incident that occurred in Zamfara before the 2019 elections which denied the APC to place field candidates.

“Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the one behind the crisis in Edo APC. We have passed a vote of no confidence in him and he stands suspended from the party. “We don’t want what happened in Zamfara State or other parts of the country to happen in Edo state,” stated the party.
His response to the attack, Oshiomhole accused the deputy governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu, of importing the thugs that attacked the governor in Iyamho.
Shaibu didn’t just sit back but also fired back at Oshiomhole saying actually he’s the one who brought in the thugs to attack the governor.
