Gender inequality is terrible for women’s mental health, and it’s destroying the peace of mind and hopes of young women in general. Gender inequality is the main root of women’s psychological distress on a huge level.
Think of William Shakespeare’s Ophelia or Bronte’s madwoman in the Attic, women for whom “madness” was the only legal way to show the tension and truth of being trapped in a man’s world.
Many ordinary women are bruised and abused by gender inequality have been criticized, drugged up, locked up and abandoned.
Reading the data on gender inequality is upsetting but also a wake-up call for change. We can recognize women’s mental illness as a reply to oppression and create a way that acknowledges their true experience as a first step to the healing process and freedom.
We no longer have to shade way the lie that women are not good enough or strong enough to achieve equal status with men.
From now onwards let’s stop to talk about our lack of confidence, thin skins. thick skins and disorderly hormones, and be more positive and encourage ourselves as women.
Young women are at the forefront, it’s crucial that the society and government recognise this now, take it seriously and act.
We need to do away with gender inequality now, otherwise, we’re simply asking for money to build shelters while the war around us continues.
