South-East governors have created and is about to inaugurate a security body in the light of the controversial Amotekun in the south-west according to the governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi.
David Umahi who’s the chairperson of South-East governor’s forum said doing so is at the end stage of planning to make sure it kicks off with effective operation.
The Abia State Governor, David Umahi said this on Wednesday, January 29, when he met with Major General Lasisi Adegboye, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.
Daily Sun had previously reported that Engineer Umahi lamented of incessant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on some part of the South-East and said the security agency is to a large extent created to challenge this and make sure there is peace.
David Umahi said all the governors in the zone had informed the federal government about the step they are taking in creating the security agency. The report revealed that Umahi did not mention the name of the new security outfit that they have created.
The report said that David Umahi revealed that each region of the country has its own special challenge adding that the South-East zone had formed a joint task force.
“We are putting things together because we had a joint meeting with all the service chiefs and the GOC. So, we discussed and agreed on what we need to do to continue to give safety to our people in the south-east,” Engineer Umahi maintained.
He finally said that it will be everyone’s task to see that the security outfit is unveiled because every state in the region will play an important role in making it work.
