Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris described Tupac Shakur as the “best rapper alive”. She said this during an interview at the NAACP’s virtual convention Friday not minding that the rapper died more than two decades ago.
The CNN commentator Angela Rye asked the Oakland native, “Best rapper alive?”
“Tupac,” Harris answered with little hesitation before Rye quickly reminded her that 2pac had passed away a long time ago.
The Democratic presidential figure responded, “Not alive, I know, I keep doing that,” with a laugh.
The rapper has been notoriously linked to countless subjects of baseless conspiracy theories that he faked his own death when he was fatally shot in 1996, which Rye referenced.
She said, “Listen, West Coast girls think Tupac lives on; I’m with you,” she laughed.
Harris then struggled to name a living rapper but ended up saying, “there’s so many, you know?” while adding that “There’s some I would not mention right now because they should stay in their lane,” Harris said, without elaborating.
“That was not supposed to be a stumper,” Rye said.
