Kelly's attorneys stated in their filing on Friday that Farmer “roamed a great distance within the MCC before carrying out that act, without any opposition.

A video of R. Kelly being beaten by another inmate in jail revealed that no jail guard “raised a finger” to assist him until the attacker was done with hitting the singer according to his lawyers in a new court filing.

Kelly is currently being detained in Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center on federal sex abuse charges. He was assaulted in August by Jeremiah Farmer, who had physically punched him repeatedly just to get media attention for himself.

According to Kelly’s lawyers, the assault left him with “significant physical and psychological injuries,” although his lawyers are yet to release the video from the scene of the event.

CNN had reported that a guard, identified by center officials as “D. Szyhowski,” ordered Farmer to stop punching Kelly and sprayed Farmer with pepper spray, citing a Bureau of Prison report.

Kelly’s attorneys stated in their filing on Friday that Farmer “roamed a great distance within the MCC before carrying out that act, without any opposition.

“An unresolved issue remains as to whether MCC personnel encouraged, and then allowed, a beating of Mr. Kelly to take place. That alone merits an evidentiary hearing.”
