Tom Girardi’s health is reportedly deteriorating after his Lion Air settlement lawsuit as Attorneys for the estranged husband of reality show star Erika Jayne said in documents filed Monday that Girardi, 81, suffered a “serious illness” in recent months for which he was hospitalized Us Weekly reported.

The same documents alleged that Girardi couched everything related to his ongoing case as a result of his illness, which kept him away from his law firm, while his lawyers also said his hospitalization was the mistake that caused some families to not be paid in full.
Girardi and his Girardi Keese law firm were held in contempt of court on Monday and a $2 million judgment was slammed on them for not being able to explain where funds went in the Lion Air flight settlement. Girardi’s and his firm’s assets were ordered to be frozen while the case was going on.
Edelson PC, a class-action firm, sued Jayne, 49, and Tom Girardi on behalf of the 2018 Lion Air flight victims earlier this month for embezzling the funds and working to intentionally conceal it through their divorce.
