Chuck D Tenders Apology After Suggesting A Second Chance For R.Kelly

Hip-Hop Legend, Chuck D has finally apologized for his recent comments on R.Kelly’s trial.

This apology was, however, as a result of the heavy backlash he faced from social media users have dragged

It should be recalled that SurgeZirc US had earlier reported that R. Kelly was found guilty Monday of sexually abusing women, boys, and girls for decades, capping the stunning fall from grace of the ’90s R&B superstar.

This news had garnered a number of reactions online and among those we aired their thoughts on the case was Chuck D.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the Public Enemy front said; “Abused in his youth… an addict as [an] adult… Ike Turner served 18 months in prison… Rick James did a similar time. Ike came out as a changed positive human being. How long should R. Kelly spend in prison – and does a USA system give a man a chance for a man to change his world around?”

The Legendary rapper’s tweet was, however, heavily criticized by a number of tweeps.

Detroit Metro Times editor Alex Washington replied, “R. Kelly married an underage girl in 1995 when he was a 27-year-old man. It is the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-one. His pattern continued and worsened and you want us to give him a chance for change? This the hill you want to [die] on?”

SNY reporter, Chris Williamson also said, “Asking this sincerely my brotha, what made you feel this was necessary to tweet out given all that we know about Robert’s disgusting crimes and his lack of remorse?”

After probably reflecting on some of the replies, Chuck D returned to Twitter to tender his apology.

“JUST TO BE CLEAR, I’m not the R. Kelly fan here. 75 million sold somewhere & I ain’t got 1 of his songs. And his actions were criminal, my apologies if the wings of perception loomed beyond than the words on this slave App,” tweeted Chuck D on Tuesday night.
