Superstar rapper and actress, Nicki Minaj has fired back at Jesy Nelson’s music video critics over blackfishing allegations.
Jesy had faced a series of backlash from social media users after the release of a music video for her debut single, Boyz, which features American rapper Nicki Minaj and a cameo from record producer P.Diddy.
Accusations had trooped in from users that the 30-year-old was blackfishing. Often, this term refers to someone who feigns racial ambiguity or changes appearance to appear black.
However, Nicki Minaj’s not having any of these as she blasted the music video’s critic during an Instagram Live stream with Jesy Nelson apparently directed towards addressing the issue.
The versatile rapper said; ‘‘It’s a lot of women out here in the United States that tan, get bigger lips, get all types of s**t done to themselves.
‘I wear blonde hair straight down to my feet, contacts, whatever… as long as you’re not hurting nobody or speaking negatively about someone’s race you should be able to wear whatever you want to.’
“You will not go any f*****g where because your heart ain’t right, a lot of the females out right now it’s like they want a hate train”, she added.

Hinting at the recent drama between Nelson and her former bandmates, Little Mix, Nicki said; ‘What we won’t have is someone texting and telling influencers to talk badly about this girl, I know singers that tan a lot. It’s their f*****g business, it’s their f*****g right. It’s different when someone comes out and pretends to be Black.’
