During the ceremony, after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, Smith walked up to the stage and slapped the comedian, warning, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!” His wife had shaved her head after publicly discussing her hair loss, known as alopecia.

After winning the Oscar for a best lead actor a few minutes later, Smith apologized to almost everyone except Rock in his acceptance speech, claiming, “I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things,” he added.

Richard Williams hasn’t responded to being mentioned in Smith’s speech, and his daughters haven’t either.
