Prince Andrew is described as a “coroneted sleaze machine.” At least, that’s Tina Brown’s cold-eyed assessment of the royal family’s tome, “The Palace Papers,” which comes out Tuesday.
Andrew was an unpopular classmate at Gordonstoun, a Scottish boarding school, where students described him as “big-headed, arrogant, and deluded about his own intelligence.”

“His penchant for off-color jokes, at which he laughed inordinately, earned him the nickname ‘the Sniggerer.’” Andrew’s penchant for lewdness appears to have continued into adulthood.
Lee Annenberg, the wife of former US ambassador to the UK Walter Annenberg, claims that when the queen’s second-born son visited their Palm Springs estate in 1993, the Duke “holed up in his bedroom for two days apparently watching porn.”
Even after he married Sarah Ferguson, she writes, his bed was adorned with “50 stuffed teddy bears, many dressed as sailors, that maids had to place in the exact spot Andrew had ordained.”
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson continued to live together after their divorce in 1996, and Fergie has always boasted about their close relationship.
Brown, on the other hand, paints a different picture.
In 2015, an American media executive visiting Fergie at Royal Lodge was taken aback when Andrew entered the room while they were having lunch and asked, “‘What are you doing with this fat cow?” Brown is a writer.
The media exec claims to have been “stunned at his level of sadism. I thought, ‘What an a–hole.’ She has to sing for her supper. She’s afraid of him.”

“Whatever the undertow of their curious arrangement, the deal seems to be that he bails her out when she’s in trouble. and she backs him up when he’s assailed by scandal. It is the symbiosis of sheer survival,” Brown explained, referring to Fergie’s frequent money issues.
Fergie publicly supported Andrew during his legal battle with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual abuse, last year while promoting her latest book. Fergie described the prince as a “kind, great man… I feel very strongly that in this day and age that we must stand by our hearts, what we think is right with integrity and honor and loyalty.”
