Gabby Windey stated that she and Erich Schwer split because they “weren’t each other’s best match.”
During Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars” episode, the former “Bachelorette” opened up about why she and Schwer decided to split up just months after getting engaged on the ABC reality show.

“The end of our relationship happened because we weren’t completely in step and in sync with each other in our common goals or just the way we approach life,” she explained to her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy.

“I’m just so grateful that my dad and my stepmom encompass so many fundamentals and values that I look for in a relationship, like never placing blame,” she continued, adding that she wants to “channel that kind of everlasting love” into the pair’s dance for the week.

The ICU nurse, 31, and real estate analyst, 29, called it quits earlier this month after Windey felt like they “weren’t aligned and weren’t on the same page.”
“Gabby was hoping they could give each other space and work it out but ultimately decided they didn’t have a future,” the insider told E! News.
Windey’s engagement ring was discovered to be missing after fans noticed she wasn’t wearing it while competing in the Disney+ series.

However, at the time, the reality star dismissed the rumors, saying she and Schwer were “supporting each other from afar.”
“I think life is just really busy for the both of us right now, so I understand [fans’] concern,” she told Fox News Digital about Schwer missing one of her performances. “We’re just kind of, you know, going forward with each of our individual interests and supporting each other from afar.”
Despite the fact that the couple is no longer together, Schwer continues to support his ex-fiancée on social media, pleading with fans to vote for Windey each week.

Despite their amicable split, the lovebirds encountered difficulties in paradise.
In early September, a photo of Schwer in a high school yearbook wearing blackface makeup and an Afro wig resurfaced on social media.

While he apologized profusely for his “insensitive” costume, he was met with even more criticism less than a month later when an ex-girlfriend claimed he went on the show to advance his career rather than find love.
Despite the public scrutiny, Windey defended Schwer, saying the couple needed to “grow as a couple and learn from” their mistakes.
