And so, we’re honored to be holding this event here,” UHart Acting President Stephen Mulready said

At the Lincoln Theater, the summit begins at 9 a.m. Survivors of gun violence, advocates for gun safety, and numerous federal and state lawmakers will be present for Biden’s speech at 2 p.m.

The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which Biden signed into law last year and includes some of the most significant federal gun safety legislation in 30 years, will be the subject of their discussion.

Sen. Chris Murphy stated, “It’s a waiting period on all assault weapons purchases for younger buyers,” “It invests in state red flag laws that take away guns from dangerous people,” and “It takes away guns from domestic abusers.”

Additionally, the legislation provides $15 billion for community resources and mental health care.

Murphy stated, “That’s a lot of money, so we are building a lot of mental health clinics all over the country with that money.”

Biden will attend a campaign reception in Greenwich following the summit.
