Whether or not Trump attends, Ron DeSantis told SurgeZircUS that he plans to participate in the first GOP presidential debate in August.

“I’ll be there, regardless,” DeSantis said. “I hope everybody who is eligible comes. I think it is an important part of the process, and I look forward to being able to be on the stage and introducing our candidacy and our vision and our leadership to a wide audience.”

The question of who will be present at the first debate remains open. Some lower-tier candidates may find it difficult to meet the Republican National Committee’s requirements regarding polling, contributions, and signing a loyalty pledge to support the GOP nominee.

What’s more, the unavoidable issue stays with respect to whether Trump, who keeps on being the leader in the race, will appear. He has said so far that he isn’t interested, and sources have told SurgeZircUS that he is looking into ways to interfere with the debate, possibly by scheduling a different event.

Fox News host Will Cain also asked DeSantis on Thursday why he keeps falling in the surveys behind Trump. His being targeted is evidence that his message is gaining traction, despite the governor’s claim that he was just getting started.

“All things considered, assuming you look at individuals like the corporate media, who are they pursuing? Whom do they despise as the candidate? “They’re after me,” he declared. Who is the Mexican president targeting because he knows we will be strong on the border to hold the cartels and the president accountable? He is pursuing me.

If you look at all of these people who are to blame for many of our society’s problems, I believe they are targeting me as the candidate they don’t want to have.”

The super PAC that backs DeSantis has raised $130 million so far, while the presidential campaign for DeSantis announced on Thursday that it had raised more than $20 million since its launch at the end of May.

Trump’s joint fundraising effort, including his leadership PAC and campaign, claimed to have raised more than $35 million between April and June, but how much went to each organization is unclear. Save America and a leadership PAC also cover the former president’s legal costs.
