It’s official – Euphoria will be returning for a highly anticipated third season. However, fans will have to exercise their patience a little longer as filming for the new season has been delayed. As of March 2024, the cameras have yet to start rolling on the hit HBO series.

Euphoria has quickly become one of HBO’s biggest hits, captivating audiences with its raw and daring storytelling. It comes as no surprise that the show received the green light for a third season.

However, the wait between seasons has been a bit longer this time around, thanks to the ongoing writers’ and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

In addition to the production delays, the cast and crew of Euphoria are also mourning the loss of one of their own.

Angus Cloud, a talented young actor who portrayed Fezco on the show, tragically passed away on July 31 at the age of 25. His untimely death has undoubtedly cast a shadow over the production of Season 3.

Despite the setbacks, HBO network chief Casey Bloys expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, praising the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, and its star, Zendaya, along with the entire cast and crew.

Bloys commended their ability to push the boundaries of narrative convention and form while maintaining the show’s heart.

Euphoria has not only been a ratings juggernaut for HBO but also a cultural phenomenon. It has become the network’s most-watched show since Game of Thrones, with an average viewership of over 16 million per episode in Season 2.

It has also dominated social media, becoming the most tweeted-about show of the decade.

While HBO has not yet announced the official release date for Euphoria Season 3, Casey Bloys did confirm that it would be premiering in 2024. However, due to the production delays, the exact timing remains uncertain.

Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming, explained that the show’s delivery would depend on when they can resume filming with Sam Levinson, who is currently focused on finishing another project.

Despite the uncertainty, fans can take solace in Zendaya’s optimistic outlook. When asked about a potential 2024 release date, she responded, “I think that might be true. I honestly don’t know. There [are] some executives that know better than me, you might wanna ask them. I’m gonna be busy for a while.”

Zendaya is confirmed to return to Euphoria Season 3 as Rue. The actress reportedly “just closed a big re-negotiation” and will earn $1 million per episode in season 2, according to a report by Puck.
