Taylor Swift, the 34-year-old pop icon, has just announced an exciting collaboration with major music artist Post Malone on the first single of her highly anticipated album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Swift took to Twitter on Thursday, April 18, to share the news with her fans, just hours before the release of her album.
In her tweet, Taylor exclaimed, “The first single from the Tortured Poets Department is… ‘Fortnight’ featuring @PostMalone! I’ve been such a huge fan of Post Malone because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation, and the melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever.

“I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on ‘Fortnight.’ Honestly, can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at midnight tonight and see the video at 8 pm ET tomorrow.”
Taylor Swift’s new album is scheduled to drop at midnight on Friday, April 19, and her devoted fans, known as “Swifties,” have been eagerly awaiting its release ever since she made the surprise announcement while accepting an award at the Grammys earlier this year.
“So, I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years,” Taylor Swift revealed during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album.
“It’s called ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you!”

With this revelation, fans couldn’t contain their excitement and speculation about the inspiration behind Taylor’s new music began to swirl. Many believe that the album could be influenced by her breakup from ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
The former couple dated from 2016 to mid-2023, before Taylor found love again with her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
In a 2022 conversation with Variety, Joe Alwyn, 33, mentioned being part of a group chat called the “Tortured Man Club.” Swifties, naturally, have connected this statement to Taylor’s upcoming album.
“It’s the Tortured Man Club, I think. It’s me, you, and Andrew Scott started the group,” Joe revealed. “[Andrew is] just messaging himself good mornings. We were both in the Sally Rooney universe and crossed over with Lenny Abrahamson. We were so lucky to have that experience.”
