Former President Trump recently shared his thoughts on the anti-Israel demonstrations that have been taking place on college and university campuses across the United States.
While he is not currently involved in any court proceedings, he took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his opinions on the matter.
In one of his posts, Former President Trump addressed the students who are protesting Israel’s war with Hamas, the terrorist group that governs Gaza. He urged them to “stop the protests now!!!” in a strongly worded message.
These demonstrations have led to a significant number of arrests, with nearly 900 individuals, including both students and antisemitic agitators, being taken into custody since the removal of an anti-Israel protest encampment at Columbia University on April 18.
The students involved in these protests are voicing their concerns over the rising death toll in Gaza as a result of Israel’s efforts to eradicate Hamas.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been ongoing, with the deadliest attack in the country’s history occurring on October 7, 2023. The subsequent war has tragically claimed the lives of over 34,000 individuals, primarily civilian women and children.
The anti-Israel groups on college campuses are calling for their respective institutions to divest from companies that support Israel’s military and its actions in Gaza. Despite requests from several schools to end their encampments, the students have remained steadfast in their protests.
President Trump’s comments on Monday morning also touched on other topics, including his criticism of President Joe Biden, whom he referred to as the “worst president in the history of the United States.” He also addressed the various lawsuits he is currently facing, describing them as “election interference.”
The nationwide campus protests have been ongoing and have intensified over the weekend. Hundreds of protesters were arrested at various college campuses across the country on Saturday, Sunday, and into Monday morning.
At Indiana University, Arizona State University, and other locations, approximately 275 individuals were taken into custody on Saturday. In Boston, riot gear-clad police arrested around 102 students who were part of an encampment at Northeastern University.
Additionally, more than 100 people, including students and university employees, were arrested at Washington University in St. Louis when masked protesters were removed by police on Saturday.
Late Sunday and into Monday morning, campus police at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, physically carried some protesters from an encampment and made arrests.
These demonstrations have gained momentum since students at Columbia University, considered to be the epicenter of the current protests, established their encampment by pitching tents at the heart of the campus.
They have made it clear that they will not disband until the university divests from Israel.
