Elon Musk Vows To Fight Democratic Investigations If GOP Loses Congress
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO warned Democratic lawmakers against targeting him and his businesses as questions surrounding DOGE, federal contracts, and government data access remain a focus of scrutiny.

Elon Musk has vowed to push back against Democratic lawmakers who could use congressional oversight powers to investigate him and his businesses if Democrats gain control of one or both chambers of Congress.
Musk responded to a Politico report detailing discussions among Democrats about potential investigations into the billionaire and his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.
"Live by the sword, die by the sword," Musk wrote in a post on his X platform.

"Those who pick fights with me should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets."
Musk has been a significant financial backer of Republican candidates and worked with the Trump administration through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His companies' business relationships with the federal government could also attract attention from lawmakers if Democrats secure a congressional majority.
Elon Musk's DOGE Role Faces Potential Congressional Scrutiny
Musk helped launch DOGE at the beginning of President Donald Trump's second term, with the initiative focused on identifying government waste and promoting transparency in federal spending.
He played a prominent role in the department's operations before leaving his position in the administration in late May 2025. His departure followed the expiration of his 130-day tenure as a special government employee, as he returned his attention to leading Tesla and SpaceX. Musk also disagreed with aspects of the administration's policies.
DOGE pursued measures that included deferred resignations and employee buyouts across federal agencies. These efforts formed part of a broader reduction in the federal workforce, which contracted by approximately 250,000 employees during 2025, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).
DOGE Investigations Focus On Social Security Data And Federal Spending
Beyond its workforce reduction efforts, DOGE faced calls for investigations over its access to sensitive government information, including Social Security records, as well as concerns surrounding the withholding of funds.
The initiative's handling of government data and spending decisions has drawn scrutiny, providing potential areas of interest for lawmakers seeking greater oversight of its activities.
Tesla And SpaceX Federal Contracts Draw Democratic Concerns
Democratic lawmakers have also alleged potential conflicts of interest involving Musk and the federal government, pointing to contracts awarded to his companies by various federal agencies.
SpaceX and Tesla have commercial relationships with the government, placing their dealings among the issues that could receive congressional attention if Democrats gain control of either chamber.
Musk's warning comes as Democrats have considered possible oversight efforts involving his businesses and his former role in the Trump administration. Any investigations would depend on the priorities and actions of lawmakers if they gain the authority to pursue them.
