EFCC Arrests Yahoo Academy Students For Cyber Fraud

According to EFCC, the suspects were between the ages of 19 and 35 and have confessed that they were undergoing training in various aspects of cyber criminality such as love scams, online trading scams, theft identity, etc.

Uyo Zonal Office, operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has arrested 23 suspects who are alleged to be operators and students of a Yahoo Academy in Akwa Ibom.

According to the statement posted on the commission’s social media page, the suspects were arrested during a raid on Essien Essien Street, Ikot Ibiok village in Eket local government area of the state.

Online reporters gathered that the operation was jointly carried out by EFCC operatives in Uyo and Abuja in the early hours of Thursday, November 28.

The anti-graft agency stated that the suspects, who are said to be students were arrested after the operatives stormed a building described as ‘Yahoo Academy’.

The building is allegedly used for the training of youngsters in various aspects of cyber criminality.
