Google Doodle Honours Amaka Igwe On 57th Posthumous Birthday

Amaka Igwe was one of the big names in Nollywood until she met her unfortunate demise in 2014, and would remain a role model until the end of time.  

Google Doodle was set today 2nd January 2020 in honour of Late Nollywood filmmaker, Amaka Igwe’s 57th posthumous birthday, for her outstanding performance and contribution to film and TV production in Nigeria and beyond.

Technology giant Google has in several occasions over the years used it Doodle to model special events, holiday celebration like Christmas and top special world event like the soccer world cup.

Amaka Igwe was a Nigerian filmmaker and broadcasting executive who hail from Eastern Nigerian. She owned Top Radio 90.9 in Lagos and Amaka Igwe Studios as well.

Amaka Igwe’s appearance on Google’s doodle is a clear indication that Google recognized her as one among the few people who structured today’s Nigeria movie industry.

Amaka Igwe was one of the big names in Nollywood until she met her unfortunate demise in 2014, and would remain a role model until the end of time.

Some of Amaka Igwe’s work includes writing and producing of award-winning TV series ‘Checkmate’ and its offshoot ‘Fuji House of Commotion’ just to mention but few. Then in Nollywood, she produced blockbusters like Violated, Rattlesnake and many others.

Nigerians will forever appreciate the screen memories Amaka Igwe created while she was alive. The Google Doodle is most likely to vanish after 12 midnight.
