Twitter Fights Back At President Donald Trump As It Censors His Tweets

“We've taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the Tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance,”

The battle between President Donald Trump and social media giants Twitter is heating up. Twitter went ahead and placed a warning on one of the tweets sent by the president this Friday morning.

The president had earlier this week threatened social media giants across the board, which included Facebook, with censorship on their content after Twitter placed a fact check on two of the president’s tweets.

Before the week was done that threat had become reality as Trump went on to sign the bill drafted by the White House to censor content on social media platforms.

This didn’t deter the social media platform though as they went on to place a warning on a post tweeted by the president this morning in which he used the word “THUGS” to describe the looters in Minneapolis.

Twitter  Communications placed a warning on the tweet advising users  the tweet violated their policies as Twitter Communications went on to write:

“violates our policies regarding the glorification of violence based on the historical context of the last line, its connection to violence, and the risk it could inspire similar actions today.” before going on to add a public interest notice.

Twitter communications explained that although the tweet violated their policies, it had not been removed due to the ongoing spat between them and the president as they further tweeted:

“We’ve taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the Tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance,”
