AOC support for Biden’s reelection suggests low opposition from progressives in the primary nomination, despite Biden’s admin frustration.

AOC responded to questions about whether she would back Biden in the primary on the podcast “Pod Save America” by saying, “I believe, given that field, yes.”

“I think he’s done quite well, given the limitations that we have. I do think that there are ebbs and flows, as there are in any presidency.” she continued. “There are areas that I think were quite strong… the American Rescue Plan and of course the Inflation Reduction Act was a massive step in terms of our climate agenda.”

Before asserting that the party had largely failed to advance its immigration agenda, she stated, “But I think there are things that could have gone better.”

The president is still well ahead of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Hollywood guru Marianne Williamson in most polls for the Democratic nomination. According to some polls, Kennedy appears to be the more formidable opponent, with support from as many as 20% of Democratic voters.

He has primarily campaigned on his support for health freedom and appealed to the memory of his uncle’s more moderate Democratic Party.

AOC embraced Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Vote-based Essential. Her support is likely to strengthen the incumbent’s progressive support significantly.

Sanders, as far as concerns him, as well as Moderate Council Executive Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., The Hill reports that they have also both backed Biden.
