Tiffany Haddish’s love for Shakira is no secret. Recently, a video went viral showing the comedian chasing down the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer backstage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
The footage, shared by the Instagram account Now Wut, captured Haddish screaming Shakira’s name at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, while Shakira seemed to be trying to escape.

The clip quickly garnered mixed reactions on social media, with some users expressing second-hand embarrassment and others joking about how they would have done the same.
“Second hand embarrassment,” one social media user wrote in response to the clip that many dubbed “cringe,” while a second person commented, “Not Shakira pretending she’s not hearing, she didn’t even turn her head, I know she was pissed.”
Another chimed in, “Tiffany was acting annoying the entire vmas and the way Shakira didn’t even turn her head ITS EMBARRASSING REALLY,” while someone else joked, “Bruh so annoying I would’ve ran too.”
While the video may have been cringe-worthy for some, it is important to remember that celebrities are human too. They have their boundaries and may not always be in the mood to interact. It is crucial to respect their personal space and understand that they are not obligated to fulfil every fan’s request.
On a different note, it is worth mentioning that Tiffany Haddish has faced her fair share of controversy in the past. Last year, she and fellow comedian Aries Spears were accused of grooming, molesting, and coercing two siblings into filming sexually explicit skits when they were just 14 and 7 years old.
Court documents obtained by SurgeZirc US revealed disturbing allegations, with the young girl claiming that Haddish taught her how to mimic fellatio for a sketch about children arguing over a sub sandwich. The girl’s brother also alleged that both Haddish and Spears molested him while filming a disturbing skit titled ‘Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.’
However, these claims were vehemently denied by Haddish and Spears, and the lawsuit was eventually dismissed. Haddish took to Twitter to express her gratitude for the resolution, stating that the universe had been cleaning up the mess in her life.
