An accident that occurred along the Kaduna-Kachia Road in Kaduna State on Sunday afternoon had five persons burn beyond recognition.
Our correspondence from Kaduna said the accident was between two vehicles and that it occurred by a bush path — just 56 kilometers away from Kaduna’s main town.
Further detail into the misfortune revealed that one of the cars has a registration number JJJ 220 BB, while the second one was burnt beyond recognition. Three out of the five victims were inside the burnt car, which was still smouldering at the time of this publication.
There was a confirmation of another charred body of a passenger beside the burnt car. Meanwhile, two passengers, who weren’t burnt, were seen lying lifeless with one of them with a broken leg and his teeth fallen out of his mouth.
Two unburnt nor untorn military uniforms were reportedly seen as properties belonging to victims scattered all over the scene of the accident — leaving us with no choice but to believe that either one or more of the victims are military officers.
An unofficial traffic controller who appeared at the scene of the event admitted that he was not at the spot when the accident occurred but that he saw the driver of one of the cars, who sustained major injuries was brought out alive and rushed to a hospital for medicals.
He says, “I got to the scene when the accident had happened. It was a head-on collision caused by excessive speeding. As you can see, several people died in the accident and some were burnt beyond recognition.
“The driver of one of the vehicles was brought out alive and rushed to the hospital, but he was badly injured. A military officer is among the victims, but we are yet to know his identity. The two military uniforms, which he was carrying, have no name tags, so we are yet to know who he is.
“It is a very sad and unfortunate one.”
