Internet fraud stars in Nigeria popularly called Yahoo-boys will no longer be caught and jailed as the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, said the commission is planning to rehabilitate any young person who’s caught engaging in Internet fraud.

The EFCC acting boss said the commission needs to rehabilitate ‘Yahoo-boys’ in Nigeria because they could be useful to the agency in the future.
A report by PUNCH revealed that the leader of the agency stated this in Lagos Thursday while delivering a paper at the third All Administrators National Conference of the Chartered Institute of Administration.

Magu who spoke on the commission’s collaboration and other nations said the agency had secured a collaboration with ECOWAS member-states to aid in the prosecution of cross-border crimes.

”So if you carry money from Nigeria and escape to Ghana, we will just call the men in Ghana and say, ‘arrange this man and keep him for me. This is what the ‘Yahoo-Yahoo boys’ like to do. But we are planning to rehabilitate them because they can be useful to us in the future,” he said.
