The national arm of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) warned Nigerians not to believe the statement currently circulating that its governorship candidate in Kogi, Musa Wada, admit to defeat.
The PDP released a video of Wada vowing to pursue the result of the election to what he called ‘logical conclusion. Earlier on it was reported that Wada refused the results so far released by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the election.
Sunday, November 17, Wada alleged that the results so far released were falsely in favour of Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He accused the APC of massively rigging the election in Kogi central where the governor came from together with other areas of the state.
“The result is not a true reflection of what happened. The people of the state voted for PDP but APC changed the result to favour them,” he said. Meanwhile, Natasha Akpoti, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi, asked INEC to cancel the poll.
It is also said that Akpoti in a petition addressed to the chairperson of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, alleged that the Kogi election was ruined by intimidation, violence amongst other irregularities.
SDP candidate declared that the APC used thugs to attack voters, electoral officials, and destroyed electoral materials in 780 polling units in Kogi central. The official collation of the results of the election is yet to be concluded as further action postponed to Monday, November 18, by the INEC.
