To combat illegal immigration, Donald Trump has promised to hire 10,000 new border patrol agents and provide them with a $10,000 retention and signing bonus.

The Republican presidential nominee made the statement immediately after police revealed they had prevented a third alleged assassination attempt on him this weekend.

His statement at a rally in Prescott Valley, Arizona, comes after Republicans successfully defeated a bipartisan immigration bill that included extra border resources.

According to the White House, the bill would have provided funding for 1,500 US Customs and Border Protection personnel, including Border Patrol agents.

Trump and his followers frequently refer to Harris as the “border czar,” even though she has never held that designation. Early in his term, President Joe Biden asked Harris to look into the “root causes” of Central American migration.

“If we allow Border Czar Harris to win this election, every city, every community in this great country is going to go to hell,” union president Paul Perez said as he stood next to Trump on stage with a group of agents.

Trump has also promised to finish a border wall if he returns to the White House.

He often compares his very low number of border crossings to Biden’s far higher numbers during his first three years in office, though crossings are already back to levels seen during the majority of Trump’s administration.

Trump’s administration was also marked by a struggle to combat illegal crossings until the COVID-19 outbreak forced international border closures.

On Sunday, Trump said that Border Patrol agents deserved more pay and incentives, and he criticized Biden and Harris for failing to protect the border.

He talked in Arizona during a press conference about a probable assassination attempt against him 24 hours earlier in Coachella, California.

During a televised briefing, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated that deputies “probably” halted an attempt to kill him.

Bianco stated that Vem Miller, 49, was stopped at the event’s inner perimeter in a vehicle with a phony license plate. A loaded shotgun, a loaded handgun, and several phony IDs were reportedly discovered on Miller.

In reaction, Vem Miller, who was released on bail after being charged with firearms charges, stated that he was “shocked” to be accused of plotting to harm Trump, the candidate he supports for president.
