Niall Horan Shares Final Moments With Liam Payne In Sorrowful Tribute

Niall Horan will always remember the small details about Liam Payne. Following the untimely passing of the “For You” singer, his former One Direction bandmates paid tribute to his memory.

Niall Horan wrote in an Instagram post, “I’m devastated about the passing of my amazing friend Liam. It just doesn’t feel real. Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious,”

“He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure. All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to mind through the sadness. We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever.”

While One Direction—which formed during The X Factor in 2010 with original members Liam, Niall, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik—was on indefinite sabbatical, they continued to support one another over the years.

Two weeks before his death, Liam Payne reunited with Niall Horan at the “Slow Hands” artist’s concert in Argentina.

Liam, who attended the show alongside his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, said in a Snapchat video that was shared on social media on Oct. 1, “I think we might just go and say hello”

“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We’ve got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy. No bad vibes or anything like that.”

According to statements by authorities close to the event, Liam Payne, who shared 7-year-old son Bear Grey Payne with ex Cheryl Cole, died on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

According to a news release from the Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office, an autopsy revealed that Liam died from “polytraumism (multiple traumatic injuries), internal and external hemorrhage.”

The statement says, “The forensic experts reported that the 25 injuries described in the autopsy are compatible with those produced by a fall from height.

“They also pointed out that the cranioencephalic injuries were sufficiently suitable to cause death, while the internal and external hemorrhages in the skull, thorax, abdomen, and limbs contributed to the mechanism of death.”

As more information regarding Liam’s death comes out, fans, friends, and family members continue to pay respect to the late singer.

In a statement that was obtained by BBC on Oct. 17, his loved ones said, “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family, and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Liam’s other collaborators, including Rita Ora, have also spoken out about the tragedy.

Rita, who worked with Liam on the song “For You,” wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “I’m devastated. He had the kindest soul, I will never forget. I loved working with him so much—he was just such a joy to be around on and off stage.”

“This tragic news breaks my heart. Sending all my love and prayers to his family and loved ones. Our song For You takes on a whole new meaning for me now. R.I.P.”
