Kate Middleton may be honoring her late mother-in-law as the 39-year-old Duchess of Cambridge wore an all-black ensemble with a wide-brimmed hat to Sunday’s Remembrance Day service in London.

Kate’s outfit sparked Princess Diana’s comparisons considering that she wore a similarly shaped headpiece to the same annual event in 1992.

The hat is a black version of the Tiffany drop-brim hat by Lack and Company ($370), which Middleton already owns in blue.

On Sunday, she wore it with an Alexander McQueen military-style jacket, which she first wore to Remembrance Day in 2018 with a different fascinator.

Though Kate does own this Lock & Co. hat in blue. the downturned brim is an unusual choice for the duchess, suggesting she was paying homage to Princess Diana and the Queen. 

Kate Middleton wore the traditional three poppies as well as a crystal brooch from the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Shop ($27) to show her support for the troops.

She was on a balcony above the Cenotaph war memorial with Camilla Parker Bowles, who was wearing a large black hat adorned with feathers, and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who was wearing a small fascinator.
