Cillian Murphy stated that the sexual encounters he had with Florence Pugh in “Oppenheimer” were “not gratuitous.”

The 47-year-old Irish actor, who plays J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s summer blockbuster, talked about Pugh’s brief appearance in the movie with the Sydney Morning Herald.

“He [Nolan] was aware that those scenes were what gave the film its favorable review. And I think it’s so f—ing strong when you see it,” Cillian Murphy earlier this week told an Australian publication.

“And they aren’t extraneous. They are flawless. Florence is also simply stunning” he added.

The “father of the atomic bomb,” Oppenheimer, who is portrayed by Emily Blunt in the movie, had a relationship with Tatlock both before and during his marriage to Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer.
